cPanel as the preferred choice of most hosting companies
cPanel is the most famous control panel for web hosting accounts based on Linux. cPanel makes WordPress hosting a much more easier task. Instead of the usual Linux command-line user interface, it provides a graphical interface instead. This means that you can do even complex hosting tasks with a few clicks.
The easiest way to access cPanel on every hosting company
cPanel can be accessed without any additional logins to your hosting provider’s Customer Area. You can access cPanel directly from your browser by adding /cpanel to every domain name that is added to your hosting account.
For instance, let’s assume that you host yoursite.com. To access cPanel for your account, just type yoursite.com/cpanel in your browser and hit Enter to load this web address. Voila! You can now log in to your cPanel account without the need to make any additional logins to your hosting provider.
An alternative method to access cPanel is to use your hosting server’s IP address and port 2083. Something like https://your-server’s-IP:2083. Here’s an example.
https://192.168.0.1:2083
Fix common cPanel login issues
cPanel comes as an addon or extension to the main web hosting account interface. In almost every case, in order to modify your cPanel login credentials such as cPanel username and cPanel password, you will have to first log in to your web host’s Customer Area.
In other words, there are two different login areas – one for the Customer Area and one for the cPanel. In fact, the different hosting providers use different names for their Customer Area. For example, InMotion calls it AMP or Account Management Panel. GoDaddy calls it Customer Area and so on.
It is a common mistake to assume that the username and the password for the Customer Area or Customer Portal are the same as the username and the password for cPanel. Actually, in 99% of the cases these usernames and passwords are totally different. And they almost never match as this guarantees an additional security layer.
Another common error is to use your Customer Area username and password instead of the actual cPanel username and password when connecting via FTP to your hosting account.
