Many web hosts provide a link for direct access to your freshly installed WordPress site. Usually, the admin link to WP Dashboard can be found near the cPanel in your webhosting area.
At GoDaddy the admin link for your WordPress site can be found in cPanel > Istallatron. With other hosting providers, the admin link is placed in cPanel > Softaculous.
But what if you want to log in directly to your WordPress site? There’s no need to first log in to your hosting account and then access your site. The admin log in to your WordPress site can be done by directly visiting the site.
All you need to do is to add /wp-admin
or /wp-login
to the domain name of the site.
Log in to your WordPress site from wp-admin
Let’s assume that your site is called yoursite.com
. In order to access the admin area of the site (also called WP Dashboard), you have to visit yoursite.com/wp-admin
or yoursite.com/wp-login
. This will lead you to the admin login page of your WordPress site.
Which username and password should I use for my WordPress site?
The admin login credentials for WordPress differ from the login username and password for cPanel for example. They are different also from the credentials for the client area that you use in order to access your hosting account.
The admin username and password for your WordPress site are unique and they are set up during the installation of the site. Most of the hosting providers offer an automated feature to reset the username and password of WordPress if you can’t remember them.
Reset WordPress Username and Password from Installatron
At GoDaddy, you can reset the username and password for your site from cPanel > Web Applications section > WordPress > Installatron > My Applications tab > Click on the Edit button > Change Administrator Username and Administrator Password.
Once you’re sure that you use the correct username and password for the site, you can log in from yoursite.com/wp-admin
.
