WordPress is a really cool and easy to use content management system and creating professional looking sites with it isn’t that hard if you know what kind of site you are going to make. However, sometimes when we install a new WordPress site there might be some settings that we missed during the installation, but things can go wrong even when we continue to work on the site. Yes, restoring a backup for the site could help but if there are many things that didn’t go right with the time, we arrive at a point where we start considering a restart of the project from scratch.
This tutorial will show you how to completely uninstall a WordPress site from GoDaddy and delete all related files to that installation. This tutorial is not about resetting your WordPress site with a help of a plugin like WordPress Database Reset or through the WordPress CLI command line interface. Let’s start!
Uninstall WordPress from cPanel at GoDaddy
Log in to your GoDaddy cPanel account.
Scroll down to the Web Hosting section and click on Manage:
Now you’re in GoDaddy’s cPanel. Scroll down to the Web Applications section and click on WordPress:
You were redirected to Installatron. Now in order to uninstall your current WordPress site, click on the My Applications tab. Find the WordPress installation that you want to uninstall and click on the Uninstall button – the last one:
Now click on the Uninstall button:
Congratulations – your WordPress site has been uninstalled successfully.
Install a fresh new WordPress site for the same domain name
Go to cPanel home page:
Click on WordPress under the Web Applications section:
Now click on the Install this application button to install a new instance of WordPress or select ‘Import existing install’ if you already have a WordPress site to import in Installatron:
On the next screen, select the domain name of the new WordPress installation and remove blog from the Directory (Optional) box unless you want to have your site like example.com/blog:
Make sure that the fields for the username and password of the new WordPress site are the ones that you’d like to use and click on Install:
Congrats! Your new WordPress site has been installed successfully.
