Analytics is a really powerful tool and running a successful website without it is almost impossible these days.

If you already used the guide on the easiest way to implement Analytics or if you followed my tutorial on installing Analytics without any plugins, then the visitor reports for your WordPress site should be already working for you. However, to optimize these reports even further, the option to exclude any internal traffic on the site will provide even more benefits for you as a web admin. This feature helps webmasters have a better understanding of their real visitors’ data. Excluding specific IP addresses from Google Analytics would certainly improve the quality of the traffic reports of the site.

How to exclude a specific IP from Analytics on my WordPress Site

1. Log in to your Google Analytics account.
2. Click on the Admin icon.

3. Make sure you select the correct Property from the drop-down under Account.

4. Click on Filters under the View section.

5. Click on the red button called Add Filter.

6. Now under Filter Name, enter your preferred name for the filter. Select Exclude under the drop-down called Select filter type. Click on Select source or destination and select traffic from the IP addresses. Also, select that are equal to option for Select expression.

7. Enter the IP address that you’d like to exclude from the analytics data and click on the Save button.

Congrats! Your IP has been excluded from Google Analytics’ reports.
