Implementing Google Analytics in a WordPress site is an easy task if you use a plugin designed for this. But if you’re one of the folks that prefer simpler solutions without having to install any additional plugin when it comes to Google Analytics tracking code, then this mini guide is for you.

Almost every WordPress theme out there has the option to add a text widget. In order to install your Analytics code for every page of your site, all you need is to locate the Analytics code and paste it in a text widget. Here’s what to do.

1. Log in to your wp-admin area and go to Appearance > Widgets > and find the Text widget in the list there.

2. Select the type of Text Widget and click on Add Widget. In our example we choose a Text widget in the footer.

3. On the next screen, click on the Text tab and paste the Analytics code in the box. Then click on Save.

Congratulations! Your Google Analytics code should be fully functional. You can follow the steps for checking if Google Analytics is working correctly now. However, if you prefer to insert your Analytics code as plain code in your theme, feel free to follow the steps for adding Google Analytics manually.
